If you are looking for places to visit in Wealden then it is worth picking up a copy of the latest ‘Wealden Do the Best Attractions Guide’.
It will also be available from tourist information centres nationally and there is an electronic version online – though it’s not easy to view there, writes Cathy Watson.
The guide has been produced by Wealden Council to highlight tourist sites, benefits, events and days out in Wealden.
There is also a new Camping and Caravan sites guide produced by the council on behalf of Sussex Destinations, a partnership between eight local authority managed destinations across East and West Sussex.
That pocket-sized guide for 2016 covers camping and caravan sites across Sussex. It includes information on hiring a shepherds hut, yurt or tipi.
Wealden Council’s cabinet member for economic development, Cllr Roy Galley said: “There are so many wonderful places to visit in Wealden, literally something for everyone.
“Wealden Do the Best Attractions brings them all together for the many visitors we have to the district as well as for those who live here and might be overlooking a gem on their doorstep.”
He added that tourism expenditure supported more than 15% of jobs in Wealden and the attractions guide was an example of how the council supported businesses from the sector.
He said the guide was being taken to domestic and overseas exhibitions. “It is a great way of encouraging people to spend time and money in our wonderful part of the country.”
Copies of both guides are available from firstname.lastname@example.org.
