New dance and drama studios are opening in Uckfield and free taster sessions in dance, drama and musical theatre will be running there from today (Saturday, September 17) for a week.
Bexx Carr, who already runs Spirit Elite cheerleading classes which she will continue, and drama teacher Cathy Tye are coming together to form Elite Dance and Drama Academy.

Taster sessions at the studios in Bell Walk – find the entrance next door to Claire’s Hairdressing and opposite Pets Corner – will include drama, musical theatre, street, contemporary, commercial dance, tap and modern, and babies ballet.
To round off the opening celebration week there will be an open day next Saturday (September 24) from 9am to 3pm when you are welcome to have a look around the studios and learn more about the classes to be running there.
If you sign up on the open day you will pay no registration fee and you will receive a free EDDA t-shirt for lessons.
Bexx and Cathy are looking forward to opening the studios with parking nearby and plenty for parents and carers to do when dropping off their charges for classes.
“We think it will be good for the town and other businesses,” said Cathy. “There will be plenty for people to do around the classes. People could pop in to Claire’s to have their hair done or across the way to Forno Antico where they are able to enjoy tea/coffee and cake for £4.50.”
Bexx will continue running her Spirit Elite cheerleading classes at Fun Abounds Trampoline Centre, 21 Bell Lane, on the Bellbrook Industrial Estate, in addition to running dance classes at the Elite academy.
