New chairman for Wealden District Council

New chairman for Wealden District Council is Cllr Barby Dashwood-Morris who represents Chiddingly, East Hoathly and Laughton ward.

She takes over from Cllr Dr Brian Redman who has held the post for the past two years.

Cllr Dashwood-Morris said she would like to use her time to raise the profile of the council. “I am immensely proud of what we do here. There are many successes which we are involved in, both as a council and as individual councillors.”

Some of the themes she aims to highlight are Safety in Action, the council’s hands-on hazard training for primary children, local farmers’ markets and the economic regeneration of the district.

The chairman’s charities this year will be the Friends of Crowborough War Memorial Hospital and Friends of Uckfield Community Hospital.

Cllr Chris Hardy, who represents Hartfield, is vice-chairman of the council.
