New bench offers chance to enjoy view from The Dene to Buxted

A new bench has been installed giving walkers and shoppers the chance to enjoy a view over countryside between Uckfield and Buxted.

It is on the edge of the green in front of Browns Lane shops and was installed by Manor Park and Hempstead Fields Residents’ Association following a suggestion from local resident Sharon Lyon.

Association chairman Paul Sparks said: “We have installed the seat at a great viewing point which not only overlooks The Dene but also has a clear line of sight all the way across Buxted Park to Buxted village.

“This was an inspired idea by Sharon, which the association was only too pleased to turn into reality.

“It’s good news too that we were able to find a local craftsman to make and install it for us.

“We are very grateful that the owners of the green kindly gave us permission to place the seat on their land.”
