Update: The planning application for a new access on to High Street, New Town, Uckfield, was approved.
Our original story: A new access could be built on to High Street, New Town, Uckfield, to serve two houses planned as part of a development on the site of the former St Michael’s Convent.
A scheme has already been approved for 14 homes on the site but now an amendment has been submitted covering two houses fronting the road.
The new access would provide a car parking area and garages for both houses and a design and access statement says: “This approach has enabled the reduction in the levels of the houses and therefore integrate them into the street scene to a considerably more successful extent.
“The access arrangements have been agreed as part of pre-application discussions with the case officer at ESCC Highways.”
The houses are on plots four and five and are the largest approved for the site.
