National retailer wants to open in Uckfield

A national retailer is showing interest in moving next door to Howdens Joinery in the former Trading 4U premises on the Bellbrook Estate, Uckfield.

Howdens have taken over, and are currently refurbishing, the whole building. Their aim is to use half of it for their own business and let the other half.

Richard Oldfield, a director of Oldfield Smith & Co chartered surveyors specialising in commercial property, said the building would be transformed by the end of the project.

He added an offer had been received from a national retailer interested in moving in but it was too soon to reveal details.

Howdens will be occupying the unit closest to Halfords where they will have a trade counter, warehouse and distribution centre.
