Update, Friday, July 24: Further works are expected to be carried out to investigate the cause of a water leak trickling down Framfield Road, Uckfield.
Sam Imber, who has raised the issue with the authorities, says East Sussex Highways have requested that gas distribution company SGN/Forefront Utilities investigate because the leak started after they replaced gas pipes in the area.
Sam said: “Highways will be expecting a permit of work application in the next day or so. When the work is due to be carried out, delays in the area will be likely. A partial road closure may have to be re-implemented.”
Our original story on July 23: Mystery surrounds the source of a water leak trickling down Framfield Road, Uckfield.
The leak was first spotted after works by the gas distribution company SGN but investigations, by South East Water, into the reason for it have drawn a blank, according to Sam Imber who reported the problem and has been liaising with the company ever since.
Sam said he had been told: “We have done a lot of investigations for this one. We have sounded the area, and taken samples, which is showing as not mains water, we had even issued this out again yesterday and we are unable to find any cause in the immediate area to attribute this water. I will need to see who to refer this to. The issue remains.”
He has also passed the message to Southern Water and Highways in a bid to get the problem resolved.
