Morrisons Local plan for Ridgewood back on the agenda

Previously refused plans for a Morrisons Local at the Highlands Inn, Ridgewood, are due to be discussed in private at a meeting of Wealden District Council’s planning committee next week.

The plan was refused in October after councillors went against a recommendation of approval from officers.

Now the planning application has appeared on the agenda of the planning committee, north, which is due to meet on Thursday.

Excluding the public

But the agenda describes information to be considered as “exempt” and asks the committee to consider excluding the public from the meeting before it is discussed.

An explanation says: “Information is exempt to the extent that, in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.”

Reasons for refusal of the planning application included concern about retail use on the site in an out of town location, the design and appearance of the store and the loss of openness on the site.
