More trees go in on Uckfield High Street

Story update, Thursday, July 21: More trees are being planted in Uckfield High Street today.

One was going in near the St Peter and St James Charity shop next to All Sorts at about 10.30am and already others can be seen near Truffles and near WH Smith.

It was put into position on the west side of the road, near Hartfields, and forms part of the improvement scheme.

Pavement works are now in full swing on the east side of the road with work on the western stretch reaching its final phases.

The whole scheme is expected to be completed in September.

• Chairman of Uckfield and District Preservation Society chairman Mick Harker says that two trees of the same species as those being planted in the High Street have already been planted outside the refurbished Bridge Cottage.
