More than 150 people visit Uckfield Art Group’s autumn exhibition

More than 150 visitors called in at the Uckfield Art Group’s autumn exhibition on Saturday.

There were 154 paintings on display at the Luxford Centre, off Library Way.

They showcased different subjects, media and styles and included The Big Picture, see above left and below, a collaborative piece by 16 members of the art group which was started in Uckfield Festival week.

Each participant took part of a photograph and painted it four times the size before they were joined to form the new work.

Also on display was jewellery, cards and bookmarks made by members and there was a craft table for children. Decorated treasure boxes were a firm favourite and door hangers, baubles and bad hair day fairies were also popular along with the decoration of ‘Wobbly Christmas Trees’.

Joint winners of the Vote for Your Favourite Picture were Annie Mills with Mom and Baby and Richard Butler with Tunnel of Light. Both gained seven votes. The second choice image with six votes was The Blue Dresser by Janet Orpwood.

Winners of the Picture Raffle were N. Carpenter and Mrs Edwards.

Pictured below, by Ron Hill, are some of the artists who contributed to The Big Picture.
