More than 1,000 people watch Uckfield Grand Prix

More than 1,000 spectators gathered to watch 21 primary school teams battle it out, in cars they built themselves, in the 2014 Uckfield Grand Prix.

The event was held on Sunday in the car park at TR Fastenings on the Bellbrook Estate and the winner was Rocks Park. Holy Cross came second, East Hoathly third, and Bonners, Maresfield, fourth.

TR staff were on hand to provide refreshments and Colin Cornford, one of the event organisers, said: “It has been another super year for the Uckfield Grand Prix and we saw some impressive driving by the youngsters.

“Many thanks once again to TR Fastenings for generously providing their car park as the race track.”

Year 5 and 6 pupils take part in the grand prix having built their own Goblin kit cars. Each of them costs several hundred pounds, funded by Uckfield Community Technology College, local businesses and Uckfield Rotary Club.
