Metal bollards are now back in place in this section of Bridge Farm Road, Uckfield, and once more preventing access from here into High Street.

Metal bollards are back in Bridge Farm Road, Uckfield

Update on Tuesday, November 11: Metal bollards are back in place at the top of Bridge Farm Road, Uckfield, and access has been re-opened to the back of shops now work has been completed on pavements in New Town.

There’s more here about progress on the roadworks which are expected to be completed on Friday: Uckfield roadworks due to end on Friday.

Our original story: Two metal bollards have been temporarily removed in Bridge Farm Road, Uckfield, to allow access to the back of shops while work on pavements in New Town progresses.

The bollards were in place on Wednesday (October 29) but had disappeared yesterday, writes Josh Gibbens.

They normally prevent traffic from cutting through the bottom part of Bridge Farm Road to the High Street.

An East Sussex County Council spokesman said: “As part of the Uckfield Town Centre Highway Improvement Scheme, we are currently putting in place setts – small rectangular paving stones – at the bottom of Bridge Farm Road where it joins High Street.

“As access to Bridge Farm Road from High Street is closed while this work is being carried out, and following discussions with local traders, we have temporarily removed the bollards to allow vehicle access to the shops at the eastern end of Bridge Farm Road.

“We expect this work to be completed by Friday, November 7, after which time the bollards will be reinstated.”
