Lights of Life tree shines out at Uckfield Community Hospital

Prayers were said by the Rector of Uckfield, the Rev Brian Wilcox, at the town’s Lights of Life tree outside the community hospital.

The tree’s lights will shine over the Christmas period in memory of lost loved ones.

The Siberian Spruce can be seen just to the right of the hospital building as you look at it from the main car park.

It has been donated by the town’s Chamber of Commerce following a request from St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

Rootless trees have previously been brought in for the occasion but it has always been difficult to stop them blowing over.

The lights will be left on all day and night during the festive season.

Pictured (below) at the ceremony are the Rev Brian Wilcox, Uckfield Mayor, Cllr John Carvey; and from St Wilfrid;s Hospice, Arnold Simanowitz. Neil Whines and Tom Duncanson.

Inside the hospital carols were sung to patients in the day room by the choir of Manor Primary School (pictured bottom).
