Laughton Community Primary School has been awarded green flag status from Eco Schools joining a select band of just over 1000 schools in the country to have gained the prestigious award.
The school has worked particularly on energy, healthy living and the outdoor environment.
Mr Paul Herdman, the eco leader and site manager, manages a team of eight hand picked Eco Warrior pupils who are chosen from pupils who apply for the job each year.
Mr Herdman said: “Here at Laughton School we are trying to highlight the issues our modern existence is creating for the children in our schools in the future.
“We believe it is our responsibility not only to promote and encourage being Eco-friendly but also an important part of all we are trying to achieve at our school.”
The green flag assessment was carried out by an ex- headteacher who said: “I enjoyed my visit to Laughton Community Primary School very much. The Eco Warriors are very enthusiastic and very well supported by the coordinator, Mr Herdman, governors and all the other members of the school staff.
“It is clear the school has a very strong and on-going commitment to Eco-schools, environmental education and sustainability. Well done everyone and keep up the great work.”
The Eco Warriors were very excited to win award and look forward to carrying on the great work started.
