Planning permission is being sought to extend the time limit for starting work on a development of 146 new homes on land at Harlands Farm, north of Mallard Drive in Uckfield.
Plans for the homes were approved in October 2008.
They include affordable housing, open space including children’s play area and an equipped play area as well as landscaping and access to the site from Mallard Drive.
Developers Boyer Planning have requested an additional three years before work has to begin.
A letter accompanying the application says the aim is to safeguard the proposed redevelopment, as permitted, for the near future.
It quotes a planning regulation “introduced in order to make it easier for developers and local planning authorities to keep planning permissions alive for longer during the economic downturn so that they can more quickly be implemented when economic conditions improve”.
The application, number WD/2010/2874, which includes a plan of the site, can be seen on the Wealden Council website.
