King’s Church, Uckfield, has found new meeting venues as it prepares to complete a move from premises in Grange Road.
The church will continue to assemble, as at present, on Sunday mornings at Uckfield Civic Centre, but Over Ones and Under Ones groups will meet from September at Foresters Hall, in Harcourt Road.
The Open Door group, where people go along to enjoy coffee and cake, will meet at the Ashdown Room and the 7Up youth club for 11 to 16-year-olds will be held at The Source next to the Luxford Field car park.
The church office will complete a move to an office at Holy Cross School on August 1 and the Grange Road premises will be re-decorated during the summer holiday, as required in their full repair lease.
Lawson Commercial are now advertising the building to let at a rent of £18,500 a year saying on their website that it would be an ideal yoga/pilates/worship type premises.
There’s a large ground floor meeting room and kitchen, lower ground floor offices, first floor stage, all giving an overall space of 2,510 sq ft (233.2 sq m).
Sid Martin from King’s Church said the long term plan was to save enough money for the church to buy its own building. That would take years rather than months.
He said that church groups, such as the Under Ones were outgrowing the accommodation in Grange Road but at Foresters Hall there would be plenty of room.
