Update on Monday, July 16, 4.35pm: Kier are hoping to get an extra round out this afternoon to pick up outstanding collections in the Uckfield area.
Wealden asks that you keep your bins out.
Uckfield News story at Monday, July 16, 9.39am: Wealden Council says it is aware of at least seven roads in Uckfield and Maresfield where refuse has not been collected, even after a catch-up session on Saturday.
A spokesman said the matter was being escalated with Kier and cabinet member for waste management Roy Galley is meeting Kier’s managing director for housing maintenance and environmental services, David Mawson, on Wednesday, July 18, to discuss the failure and seek to ensure a good service is maintained until the end of their contract with the council.
The council says on its website that one collection will not be operating today as scheduled – that is in the Hailsham/Willingdon area – due to staff shortages, but all other rounds “should be operating as normal”.
The council asks: “If your bin has not been emptied please register the missed collection online through our website at my.wealden.gov.uk by 5pm the next working day.
“Please be assured we are working tirelessly with Kier to resolve this matter today, and also any that remain outstanding from previous days, as soon as possible.
“We kindly ask that you leave bins out in readiness to be emptied over the coming days.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
