Kamsons Pharmacy is working to reduce its carbon footprint following a move to new head office premises in Uckfield.
The company, at Westminster House, Bolton Close, on the Bellbrook Industrial Park, has installed 925 solar panels on the roof there.
The panels produce 249.75 kW of electricity per hour.
Four electric vehicle charging points are directly powered from the panels and the company has taken delivery of its first electric delivery van.
This will be used by the Bell Farm Road pharmacy for prescription deliveries. It will be charged from Kamsons’ own solar panels so this means deliveries made by the van will be totally carbon neutral.
Kamsons offers a free-of-charge prescription delivery service to patients who are registered to have their prescriptions sent to the pharmacy.
The service covers Uckfield and the surrounding villages including Maresfield, Buxted, Blackboys, and Five Ash Down.
Pharmacy staff will be able to advise patients if they are within the delivery catchment area and provide information on how to receive their prescription from Kamsons Pharmacy.
