Junior cricket sessions now under way in Uckfield

Junior cricket sessions are now taking place weekly on Saturdays at the Victoria Pleasure Ground in Uckfield.

A variety of fun activities are organised for children, aged five to eight, which include batting, bowling, catching, and which encourage spatial awareness, hand eye coordination and team work.

Some of the children involved in an All Stars junior cricket session on Saturday. With them are coaches Sam, left, and Peter Holman, right, and at the back from the left Paul Iswariah, David Tungate, and parent helper Stephen Gagola.

The All Stars programme, drawn up by the England and Wales Cricket Board, is run by Uckfield Anderida Cricket Club coaches who are all qualified, DBS certificated and safeguarding-trained.

The coaches, who include Uckfield Anderida Cricket Club chairman Paul Iswariah, David Tungate, Peter and Sam Holman, are volunteers and parent helpers are welcome to get involved.

Young cricketers take on a bean-bag throwing challenge at the Victoria Pleasure Ground.

Places are still available for children who would like to join the sessions which are described as a great first experience of cricket. Sessions are held each week for an hour from 10.30am.
