July 10 deadline for views on Uckfield High Street improvements

The deadline for feedback on plans for improvements to Uckfield High Street is Friday, July 10.TCR UN

The plans were displayed at an exhibition on Friday and Saturday and can still be seen on East Sussex County Council’s Uckfield web page.

A questionnaire can also be found there seeking views on specific issues: how many of the 23 parking spaces should be for disabled use and where they should be; how long short stay parking should be, 20 or 30 minutes; and which traffic management solution you would prefer.

An email from the Town Centre Regeneration Group sent out to residents, business people and other interested stakeholders says it was suggested that some traders in the High Street were not aware that the exhibition was being held.

The email says: “All the traders on the TCR Group email list (x99 email addresses) were told about the event in advance on June 16, and again on the morning of June 26.

“This was, of course, in addition to all the usual media avenues, posters and the emails and letters sent to the residents and other stakeholders that have joined the TCR mailing lists.”

• An information sheet about tree pits is now available via the TCR web page on the Uckfield Town Council website. Follow the link near the foot of the page.

• The email says any unspent developer contributions towards stages 2 and 3 of the High Street improvements will have to be returned if the work is not undertaken.

• If you would like to be added to the TCR mailing lists please email uckfield.towncentre@wealden.gov.uk. Previous emails from the TCR Project Joint Committee can be seen here.
