An Italian restaurant is expected to open at the Riverside Cafe in Bell Walk, Uckfield, in time for Christmas trade.
Commercial agents, Lawson Commercial, say they have let the cafe to two Italian brothers. One used to work as a chef at Luna Restaurant, now The Picture House Restaurant, and therefore has experience of the potential in Uckfield.
“This rather fun octagonal building offering just over 1,200 sq ft of accommodation is well placed in the town having the facility for outside seating with decking at the rear overlooking the river.
“A traditional Italian restaurant is always popular and should do very well here. The landlords have also been helpful in giving a reasonable rent free period to help them overcome the problems of being so close to the refurbishment works going on at Bridge Cottage. The brothers are hoping to be open in time for Christmas trade.”
Fross Wedding Collections plans move to Bell Walk too
It’s all change across the way too at the former Kit Wilson charity shop in Bell Walk where Fross Wedding Collections is due to open next month.
Chris Lawson, of Lawson Commercial, which has let the shop, said: “This will give them a vastly increased showroom area of over 1,000 sq ft on the ground floor with ancillary space above.”
He added the new shop would be handily placed for Bridge Cottage which is intended to be licensed for weddings after refurbishment.
