An illustration showing how a £½ million all-weather sports pitch could fit onto playing fields at Uckfield Community Technology College has been released and can be seen below.
The pitch would be built on the southern end of UCTC’s existing playing fields behind the Freedom Leisure swimming pool.
Sporting organisations, schools, councillors and individuals are working together to provide the floodlit, artificial surface.
The aim is to allow sports to be played all year round with better skills being developed by all ages for competition or pleasure while also improving fitness.
A document prepared by project co-ordinators appeals for help with raising funds.
It says the pitch will cost about £480,000 and to date potential funding of £385,000 has been secured.
“There is no doubting the challenge to raise the rest of the funds but with commitment from all involved, we believe that it is achievable,” says the document.
The project is being called AWP4U – All Weather Pitch for Uckfield. To learn more please leave your name and phone number at Uckfield Community Technology College on 01825 764844 ext 1252 or email email@example.com.
