Hot glass workshop to open during festival … with tasters too

Hot glass bead-making workshop, Let Fire Inspire, is to open over three weekends during Artwave Festival, a showcase of creative talent.

Let Fire Inspire owner Rebecca Weddell will demonstrate making lampwork glass beads over a torch flame.

You will also be able to browse her range of handmade beads and jewellery for sale and ask about her courses in this captivating craft.

The workshop at Village Works, London Road, East Hoathly, will be open from 11am to 5pm on the following dates:

  • Saturday and Sunday, August 17 and 18
  • Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25
  • Saturday and Sunday, August 31 and September 1.

Rebecca will also be running Artwave mini-taster courses and if you would like to have a go at bead making yourself – you must be aged over 12 – you can book on a 45-minute course.

During your session you will be in control of the torch flame to pull a ‘stringer’ of glass, then get to grips with making a bead in your own choice of colour and decorating it with as many dots as you like.

Your unique bead will be kiln-annealed overnight for lasting strength and sent to you the morning after your course.

Morning or afternoon mini-taster courses are available on Wednesdays, August 21, August 28, or September 4.

If you would like to book a place please visit the Let Fire Inspire website.
