Highlands Inn and Picture House announce reopening plans

The Highlands Inn and Picture House, both in Uckfield, have announced reopening plans as the Coronavirus lockdown eases.

The Highlands Inn plans to open on Saturday – only to people who book tables for food or drinks – while the Picture House Restaurant is waiting until Wednesday, July 22. It is hoped the cinema will follow at the end of July.

Highlands Inn

The Highlands Inn which will be opening its doors on Saturday and Sunday – but only to people who book tables for drinks or food.

On Saturday the Highlands will open from 11am to 11pm with food served from noon until 8.30pm.

On Sunday it will be open from 11am to 10pm with food served from noon until 5pm.

The pub phone, 01825 763989, will be manned daily between 10am and 6pm.

Delivery service

A delivery service will still be offered from Friday to Sunday and you can order via text on 07764 749365.

Guidelines

The pub will be following Government guidelines and you must have a booking before arriving for drinks or food. Walk-ins will not be allowed and outside bookings will not be taken yet because the weather doesn’t look promising.

There will be a maximum group booking of six people from a maximum of two households.

Bookings will be in time slots of two to two-and-a-half hours, and 30 minutes will be left between customers to ensure cleaning before the next arrival.

Track and trace

A track and trace form must be downloaded from the Highlands website and completed for each person or group, preferably in advance, though the forms will be available at the pub for those who don’t have a printer.

There will be table service only for food and drinks and people are asked to leave the table only to go to the toilet or a designated smoking/vaping area. Mingling with other groups inside the building is not allowed.

There will be a one in one out policy for toilets, and plenty of hand sanitiser will be available.

‘New normal’

The Highlands says: “The ‘new normal’ isn’t how we ever visioned reopening. It will feel strange and things are going to be hard for all of us to get used to.

“Please be patient and let’s all enjoy ourselves. We will do everything to ensure we can offer you a warm welcome with some good company, great drinks, and food offerings.”

Picture House Restaurant

The Picture House Restaurant which is due to open, for dining only, from Wednesday, July 22.

The Picture House Restaurant will be opening from Wednesday, July 22. Tables must be booked in advance online, and are available for dining customers only. The bar and cafe section will not be open.

The restaurant will open from 4pm on weekdays, and from noon, Friday to Sunday, with the final table time being 8.30pm daily.

Social distancing

All customers will be asked to observe social distancing on arrival and to use hand sanitisers provided.

There will be reduced staff, but rigorous cleaning procedures in place. The Picture House asks customers to please be patient and polite to staff.

It adds that it is hoped The Picture House Cinema will reopen towards the end of July.
