Hartfields Produce Store is now opening for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. The dinner menu is available from 6pm with last orders at 8.30pm.
Starters, sharing boards, mains and puddings are all available with the mains including classics already popular at Hartfields such as meat chilli and vegetable chilli.
On the menu
Some of the mains are also on the daytime special boards, but tweaked for evening diners.
They include: Chicken Ballotine, wrapped in parma ham, leek mousse, mushroom cream sauce, spinach mach; Cornish Line Caught Hake Fillet, tarragon Hollandaise, crushed new potatoes and green beans; Pan Fried Lambs Liver, streaky bacon, caramelised red onion gravy, savoy cabbage and creamy mash; Bubble and Squeak Potato Cake, wilted spinach, mustart cream sauce, poached egg and tomato concasse; 8oz rump Steak, hand cut chunky chips, rocket salad, roasted cherry tomatoes, flat mushroom, served with garlic or horseradish butter.
The Hartfields Lemon Chicken Burger, strips of chicken breast, artisan brioche bun, lemon mayo, coriander, cucumber, cos, and hand cut chunky chips was a popular choice last weekend.
Sharing boards include Butchers Block, a selection of cured meats, a daily house special, olives, pickles and toasted sourdough; Fishermans Net, smoked salmon, mackerel pate, fish dish of the day, Garlic Aioli, toasted sourdough, and Allotment Board, roasted peppers, veg dish of the season, sundried tomatoes, house houmous, grilled artichoke hearts and toasted sourdough.
Puddings include Vanilla Creme Brulee, homemade lemon shortbread; Warm Chocolate Brownie, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream; Plum Frangipane, served warm with vanilla ice-cream; Affogato, vanilla ice-cream, topped with a shot of Hartfields blend espresso; Local Icr-Cream from Downsview Farm, two generous scoops with a flake and Cheese Board, black wax cheddar, stilton, brie, crackers, chutney, fresh apple.
Store owner James Hartfield said if the Fridays and Saturdays went well then more evenings would be added. “Last weekend went really well. Everyone who came seemed to be delighted.”
When Uckfield News spoke to James yesterday he said only one table remained for booking tonight (Friday, October 30).
