Another card was declined at a Currys store and a Holiday Inn in Oxford.

PC Tessa Heath said: “We have been reviewing the CCTV at the golf club and at John Lewis and have identified two men we believe are connected with the theft. Do you recognise them?

“One man is white with grey hair, wearing a grey shirt and dark trousers and glasses and sunglasses, the other man is also white wearing a white shirt and black trousers.

“They were both smartly dressed and spent some time in the golf club and a number of people walked past them. Are you a member and did you see them that day? They may have been acting suspiciously in the locker and changing areas.”
