David Walliams’ Gangsta Granny proved to be a popular character when Framfield Primary School donned fancy dress at the end of Book Week yesterday.
Roald Dahl and Dr Who roles were also well represented and James Bond was there along with traditional fairy-tale characters.
Mrs Amy Clarke, Year 3 and 4 teacher, who organised the week of events said it was a great success.
She added: “The children enjoyed getting themselves into books and telling their friends about their favourites.”
Parents came into the school for reading sessions and Mrs Emily McLennam spent time with the children doing art work, used for story illustrations.
There were workshops too from David and Ronda Armitage who wrote and illustrates The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.
Mrs Clarke said the aim of the week was to raise the profile of reading and that certainly happened. Many of the children were inspired by the workshops to go home and read their own stories to their parents.
