Future of Ridgewood Rise site, Uckfield, queried

Questions have been asked as to why East Sussex County Council has left the Ridgewood Rise site in Uckfield vacant at a time when it is increasing the council tax.

Town councillor Paul Sparks told county councillor Chris Dowling townspeople would be puzzled as to why  this “valuable asset” had been left vacant.

Cllr Dowling, whose county council division covers Ridgewood, said the site had been marketed last year for development as a residential home. See our story from last year here

He told a meeting of Uckfield Town Council that no buyer had been found. He said the county council had a disposal programme and he promised to find out what the council’s intentions were now.

He said: “Last year’s proposal did not come to fruition.”
