The funeral of Maresfield parish councillor and former Wealden district councillor Ken Ogden is due to take place on Friday.
It will be held at Maresfield Parish Church at 3.30pm.
Cllr Ogden, Conservative, served on the district council from 2007 to 2015 representing Buxted and Maresfield, including Hadlow Down.
During his term he served on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Planning Committee North.
He was returned unopposed to sit on Maresfield Parish Council last month.
Maresfield Council chair Cllr Martin Craddock, who has been a parish councillor for six to seven years, and chair for four, said Cllr Ogden was a conscientious councillor who always had the interests of Maresfield and its residents at heart.
“He always acted beyond the call of duty in terms of what he tried to do for his constituents. He has been a stalwart of Maresfield society for many years and been involved with many of the village organisations.”
Cllr Ogden was 84 and married to Betty. He was father of Deborah, Nigel, Nick, and John, and a grandfather.
The family published details of the funeral on Facebook so that people who knew him would be able to attend.
