Fund-raising under way for outdoor classroom at Rocks Park School

Fund-raising is under way to build a community classroom at Rocks Park Primary School that can be used by children from across Uckfield.

Rocks Park head teacher Mr Chris Davey is pictured with two fund-raisers Denise Tidd, left, and Heather Camsell, and children Chloe Tidd, Harvey Camsell, Lucia Brown and Oscar Stepney.

At the moment there is just a small shelter on the land but an outside classroom could be used by children visiting the school to take part in an annual cross-country run or to enjoy a nature trail at the school.

Marie Stepney, from the Friends of the School Association, who is heading the fund-raising campaign, said they would like to have a proper wooden framed building which could be used by children from all primary schools rather than just Rocks Park.

The target is to raise £10,000 for the project and the first activity planned is an Easter Bunny Hunt on Sunday, March 20, from 11am to 2pm.

All are welcome to attend and follow a Bunny Hunt Nature Trail (£2 per trail entry), take part in a giant bunny raffle and buy from a barbecue which will include vegetarian food. There will also be drinks and ice-creams and free colouring.

The venue will be Rocks Park Primary School.
