Uckfield Fire Station will be opening its doors for a fun and safety day on Wednesday, March 30.
The event is organised by Wealden District Council and will offer a mix of fun and learning through interactive displays, including a simulated fire and car rescue, and attractions such as a children’s entertainer, penalty shoot-out competition, badge-making, crafts and giant outdoor games.
Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue are also sending vehicles to the fire station, in Bell Farm Road, and children will be able to sit in the driving seats.
Cllr Claire Dowling, Wealden cabinet member for public health and community said the fun and safety days were a great example of the events the council organises with partner organisations to help keep the community safe and healthy.
She said: “The children will learn valuable information about how to stay safe but more importantly they will have a great time.”
The event is free and open to all but children aged under ten years should be accompanied by an adult.
During the day, which runs from 10am to 1pm, there will also be an opportunity to sign up for a home fire safety check from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
It is worth noting there is no parking on the site and limited parking nearby and so walking or using public transport is recommended.
