Hemal Chudasama, new manager at Kamsons Pharmacy in Bell Farm Road, says flu vaccinations are a priority for the NHS.

Free NHS flu vaccinations available at Kamsons Pharmacy

Free NHS flu vaccinations are now available at Kamsons Pharmacy in Bell Farm Road, Uckfield.

Manager Hemal Chudasama said vaccination is a priority for the NHS because the higher the number of people vaccinated, the lower the number of people hospitalised during any flu outbreak.

He added that vaccination not only prevents deaths from flu but it could also prevent complications arising as a result of the viral infection.

Secondary illnesses

Secondary illnesses can include pneumonia, and meningitis.

Free NHS vaccinations are available for people over the age of 65 and to those on medicines which reduce their immune response, who have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, severe heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, are pregnant or are a carer.

The vaccine is available privately for £12 for patients who are not eligible for the NHS Flu Service.

Drop-in service

Kamsons offer a drop-in service at the Bell Farm Road pharmacy but recommends people call them first thing in the morning to give an idea of when they will visit so that a vaccine can be set aside for them.

Hemal, who joined Kamsons in July has a wide background working within community pharmacy. His ten years experience includes corporate, independent, and small chain multiples, such as this one.

He is enjoying his new role offering a host of free NHS services including:

  • NHS health checks,
  • NHS flu vaccinations,
  • New Medicines Service
  • Medicine Use Reviews

And private services such as:

  • Travel Vaccines
  • Malaria Prophylaxis
  • Shingles, chickenpox and HPV vaccines
  • Prescribing services for Hairloss, Hay fever, Hirsutism, Erectile Dysfunction, Premature Ejaculation and Period Delay

Hemal said: “I am really enjoying it here. We have a good working relationship with the doctors in the practice here, and we work well with other surgeries in the area.”

He likes the Kamsons ethos which is to be central to the community, doing all it can to help patients.

NHS Health Checks

He said the NHS Health Checks are great for people in their 40s or above. The checks look for risk factors that could affect them later in life and enable action to be taken to lower any risks.

Kamsons also offers a free delivery service for patients – paid for by the pharmacy – which is highly valued at times of need.
