Framfield mother of two Karen Muxworthy is delighted to be singing in a choir backing a former BBC The Voice star Jaz Ellington in a concert next month.
The concert takes place on June 13 at The Clarendon Centre, 47 New England Street, Brighton, and Karen is hoping people from the Uckfield area will go along.
Doors open at 6.15pm and the performance begins at 7pm. Tickets are £12 (full), £10 (concessions) and £8 (12 years and under) and available in advance from the Dome Box Office or on the door at £15.
Karen joined Brighton Goes Gospel after attending a concert to support a family friend in the soprano section and says she was astounded by what she saw and heard.
She said: “As gospel music is the birthplace of soul music and Motown, which I love, and as I’ve always wanted to be part of a choir, I felt this was likely to be the one.”
She is now a member of the Brighton Goes Gospel’s prestigious performance choir and was excited to hear that Jaz Ellington had agreed to take part in the choir’s summer concert.
Karen said Jaz Ellington’s audition on The Voice moved her to tears.
“It was one of those moments that just sticks with you. Hairs on the back of the neck, that sort of thing.”
She added: “Imagine my amazement when I heard that Jaz Ellington has agreed to take time out of his busy schedule to perform with Brighton Goes Gospel. I’ve died and gone to heaven.”
