Former Uckfield Post Office premises have been let

The former Post Office in Uckfield High Street has been let.

The owner, Robin Marten, confirmed yesterday that the front ground floor space has been let to Hunter Finance who already have an office in the building.

A ten-year lease with a five-year break clause has been agreed. It is expected to be used for financial services.

The space has been empty since Uckfield Post Office moved into WHSmith, at 33 High Street, in January 2014.

WHSmith extended its shop into part of a store room, providing a dedicated Post Office area, built to Post Office specifications.

The Post Office said at the time that the move was part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network, designed to ensure branches were sustainable, profitable and no longer reliant on Government funding.
