Plans have been submitted to turn a former Uckfield hairdresser’s premises to a ‘drinking establishment’.
The proposal for the former PHD, a Grade II listed building at 93 High Street, is before Wealden Council.
A statement with the application, which has been submitted by Towfique Ahmed, of Amira’s Kitchen restaurant, says the size of the premises and access to the shop and rear yard would be unchanged.
And there are no plans to change or add to any of the existing landscaping features but a modern internal partition would be removed, and a 50mm hole would be drilled in an internal wall to connect a new sink to the existing drainage system.
A new bar and kitchen units would be free-standing.
A heritage statement says: “Our proposal will not change the eternal or internal appearance, nor damage any of the original structure. Therefore this heritage asset will be maintained.”
