Former Clockery shop in Uckfield could be beauty salon

Plans have been submitted to change the use of an Uckfield shop, formerly occupied by The Clockery, to a beauty salon.

The application, for 111 High Street, has been submitted to Wealden Council by Mrs Rebecca Blackford who says in a statement that non-permanent changes are planned to the property. They include providing internal access to a toilet, previously accessed from outside.

There will also be new stud walls and laminate flooring laid on top of existing red quarry tiles. The shop front will remain in its current form with only minor repairs undertaken where required.

Mrs Blackford says: “The alterations are proposed to uplift a neglected property on Uckfield High Street, making the layout more accessible to an adapting modern town, which will help enhance the commercial attractiveness of the property and new businesses within the area.”
