The flood alert for the River Uck has been lifted this lunchtime (January 6).
The warning for people to be prepared for possible flooding was issued yesterday morning.
The Environment Agency said the river levels were dropping throughout the catchment of the River Uck and “will continue to do so for the rest of the day”.
However, it did sound a note of caution.
“We do expect another band of rain to move in overnight, which may see levels start to rise again,” the agency said.
This week the River Uck has twice been under flood alert after heavy rain saturated the catchment areas, causing massive quantities of water to run off into the river and rush through Uckfield in a brown, foaming mass.
Earlier today, a call was made for the return of the Uckfield Flood Forum and an attempt be made to slow the river before it reaches Uckfield.
