Bouncy castles, children’s rides, a barbecue, beer tent and entertainment on a stage will be some of the attractions at an event in Uckfield on Saturday evening (June 11).
The occasion will the Queen’s official 90th birthday party and the celebration will be held at the Victoria Pleasure Ground from 5pm, finishing with a firework display at about 10pm.
There will even be the chance for football fans to watch the England v Russia Euro 2016 game on screen in a TV tent during the evening.
Performers will include Uckfield Singers, Uckfield Theatre Guild, Deb’s Dancers, Clubbercise, Uckfield schools and Uckfield Concert Brass.
There will also be ice-cream, and teas and coffees will be offered in the Victoria Pavilion by Sussex Support Service.
The event is being laid on by Uckfield Town Council and one of the organisers, Uckfield town councillor Diane Ward, said visitors were being asked to take advantage of free parking in the Uckfield Railway Station car park because there will only be disabled spaces – first come, first served – and spaces for participants at the Victoria ground.
The Victoria Pleasure Ground car park will be closed – with the barrier in place – from 10pm on Friday until after the celebrations are complete and cleared away late on Saturday night, or the early hours of Sunday.
Motorists should ensure their cars are not left on the site.
• There was a similar party at the Victoria Pleasure Ground in 2012 when Uckfield marked the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
