Father Christian Mitchell, known in Uckfield as Father Mitch, has been appointed vicar of the United Benefice of Heathfield and is due to leave his role as curate at Holy Cross church next year.
A post on the Holy Cross Facebook page says: “We are extremely happy for Father Mitch and know he will be a wonderful leader at his new parish, however we are of course sad to lose him from Uckfield.
“Fr Mitch has been an incredible asset to us at the church and throughout the community. He has seen us through an extremely difficult time following the loss of Fr Martin and has had to step up to help lead the parish whiles in interregnum, and whilst still ‘learning’ as a curate.
“We are lucky now to have Fr John take the reins but will continue to hold Fr Mitch very close to our hearts.
“We wish him, Vicky, Charlie and Hugh every happiness in their new life in Heathfield when they move towards the middle of 2017.”
Fr Mitch’s new role was announced at St Richard’s Church, Heathfield, yesterday, Sunday, November 27. His induction is expected to take place in August or September 2017.
Fr Mitch says on their website: “I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed as your new vicar in Heathfield Benefice, and am very much looking forward to joining you at the end of my curacy in Uckfield towards the end of the summer next year.”
