Fare dodgers and anti-social behaviour tackled at Uckfield railway station

Twenty-six people were ‘fined’ at Uckfield railway station for travelling without a ticket.

They were stopped  on Friday (September 7) during a joint action which also involved the police.

The 26 were issued with penalty fare notices for travelling to Uckfield without a ticket.

Rail enforcement officers, British Transport Police and Sussex Police joined forces to deal with anti-social behaviour at the station.

Wealden Police said a dispersal authority was in place and a number of youths were issued tickets banning them from Uckfield for the evening.

“Their parents were contacted and asked to come and collect their children,” the police said.
