Train operator Southern has introduced an emergency timetable this afternoon (February 10) to the Uckfield rail line.
It follows a massive disruption to services following a landslip between Oxted and Woldingham. The line is closed between these two stations, effectively cutting off Uckfield from London via train.
Southern has said it intends to operate an hourly train service between Uckfield and Oxted from about 4pm.
Additional rail replacement services are operating now between Haywards Heath and Uckfield.
Passengers for the Uckfield line are being advised to take the train from London to Redhill and then the rail replacement bus service to Oxted.
Brighton and Hove buses is accepting Southern tickets between Tunbridge Wells – Uckfield – Lewes.
Earlier in the day
The problems for travellers have built up during the course of the day.
Early-morning trains into London Bridge station were delayed because of a 5mph limit past the site of the landslip which is south of East Croydon station.
But by mid morning Southern had said it was unable to run services.
The main line to the east of the Uckfield line – Hastings to London via Tunbridge Wells has been affected by a series of landslips due to the wet weather.
