Revised plans are being drawn for Uckfield bus station

Early 2014 start for Uckfield traffic improvements

Fine tuning of plans for Uckfield town centre traffic improvements are taking place at the moment.

Work is expected to start early in 2014.

And Network Rail’s planning application to develop the old station yard as a car park is expected shortly.

The update on the plan was given to town councillors by Claire Dowling, the Uckfield Division county councillor.

She said a site meeting had taken place in the High Street with consultants to discuss the new layout and revised plans for the bus station were being prepared.

Details of the key proposals here

The county councillor for the Framfield and Horam Division, which includes Ridgewood, Chris Dowling told the town council traffic calming measures in the area were now becoming bedded-in and accepted by drivers.

He said the extension of the 30mph limit in Lewes Road was having a good effect and that the traffic calming in New Road had finally been sorted.
