Dr Jim Oliver returned to work at the Meads Surgery in Uckfield yesterday, Tuesday, September 28.
East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust said a statement had been posted at the practice from its three partners which read:
“Dr Oliver is working at the Meads Surgery pending the outcome of a partnership dispute which remains a private matter for the doctors.
“We are unable to say anything more for legal reasons and we would ask you to respect our privacy.”
Murray King, head of primary care at the PCT said in a letter to members of the Save Dr Oliver Facebook group: “We understand that this has been an unsettling time for many of you and that you may have unanswered questions on the situation at the Meads.
“However, in light of the above statement, we trust that you understand that we, as the PCT, are unable to comment further, other than to say that we will continue to work closely with the doctors and staff of the practice until such time as this internal matter is resolved for the long term.
“We will also continue to liaise with the practice to ensure that the needs of patients are being met.”
The PCT's annual general meeting is due to be held at Uckfield Civic Centre tomorrow starting at 2pm and members of the Save Dr Oliver Facebook group are planning a protest outside.
Protests began following concern about circumstances surrounding the sudden departure of Dr Oliver from the surgery last week.
