Dog stolen from Uckfield is reunited with her owner

A dog reported stolen from Uckfield has been reunited with its owner after police stopped a vehicle in Kent.

Ruby, a young spaniel, was found in the back of a Volkswagen Golf at Wrotham Heath on Friday, March 2.

Officers had stopped the vehicle on the A20, during the early hours of the morning, in connection with theft offences.

Two men were arrested and later bailed, pending further enquiries.

Microchip scan

At the time, it remained unclear who the dog belonged to and she was taken to a local vet and scanned for a microchip.

Sergeant Jon Turtle said: “It took some further work from our officers to establish where the dog had come from. When we eventually contacted her rightful owner he was at Uckfield Police Station, reporting she had been stolen the previous evening.

“We’re all delighted that Ruby has been reunited with her owner. To be able to locate a dog reported stolen in less than 24 hours is tremendous and down to some fantastic work by local patrols.”
