Data analysis shows where Wealden COVID-19 deaths occurred

An analysis of a Covid-19 deaths dataset for Wealden, constructed by this website, shows where deaths have occurred.

As we reported yesterday (May 28), 80 people have died from coronavirus in the district. This story also includes the rate of Covid-19 deaths in Wealden per 100,000 of population (49.5) with figures for nearby local authority areas.

Of those 80:

47 deaths were in hospital;

30 in care homes; and

3 in a hospice.

Total Covid-19 deaths by week in Wealden

The first death was in week ending March 20.

The peak week for hospital deaths (13) was week-ending April 17, seven days before the overall peak in Wealden, which was the week ending April 24.

In the peak week when there were 21 Covid-19 deaths overall, nine were in hospital, 11 in care homes and one at an hospice.

That week also saw the greatest number of weekly deaths in Wealden this year, from ALL causes – 57.

In the last week of our current dataset (w/e May 15) there were five Covid-19 deaths in the total of 35 deaths from all causes.

This website’s data table for Wealden has been constructed using Office of National Statistics figures.
