Uckfield travelled to Robertsbridge in search of their first league win of the season, but after winning the toss and batting, Uckfield were in trouble at 11-3, writes David Tungate.
David Tungate and Matt Reed came together and battled through, with batting getting easier as the ball got older.
They put on a century stand, before Tungate holed out to long off for 82.
Reed continued, accelerating after reaching his 50, and made 90 before falling in the same way. Robertsbridge bowled well at the death, to limit Uckfield to 225 all out.
Robertsbridge came out with attacking intent, regularly finding the boundary.
Reed and Chris Brady bowled well as an opening partnership. A wicket a-piece for Reed, Brady and Johnny Griffiths gave Uckfield hope of defending a slightly below par total, and when Tungate removed McLean for 31 for his second wicket, Uckfield were on top.
A very good partnership from Johnson and Christie took Robertsbridge close to the target. After three wickets in an over from a very impressive debutant Jordan Sinclair-Bailey, the game swung Uckfield’s favour.
However, a last wicket stand of 30, including 11 off the final over, meant Robertsbridge reached the total with one ball to spare.
Meanwhile the 2nd XI also lost, at home to Wadhurst in a game that Uckfield felt they could have won with more luck, with standout performance from Manthan Vyas with a half century.
