Covid-19 deaths total in Uckfield area

Eleven residents in the Uckfield area had lost their lives to Covid-19 by the middle of April.

The figures have just been published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

At the same time, other families have had much better news with their loved ones being discharged from hospital.

NHS trusts which treat patients from the Uckfield area have been publishing heartwarming stories of people’s successful treatment for Covid-19.

The ONS data covers deaths occurring between March 1 and April 17 and registered by April 18. The figures are:

  • Uckfield Town and North: 5 confirmed deaths
  • Uckfield South, which includes New Town and Ridgewood: 4 confirmed deaths
  • Maresfield, Piltdown, Isfield, Halland, East Hoathly, Laughton, Chiddingly: 2 confirmed deaths
  • Buxted, High Hurstwood, Rotherfield, Framfield, Blackboys: 0 confirmed deaths.

The geographic areas listed above are grouped by the ONS and have roughly similar populations.

Successful hospital care

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which includes Eastbourne DGH, has been celebrating patients who have been discharged after treatment for Covid-19. An index to stories can be found here [external link]

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Princess Royal Hospital at Haywards Heath, has published the story of one patient and his Covid-19 recovery story. See here [external link]
