Council apologises for any bins missed in icy conditions

Wealden Council and waste collection contractor, Biffa, have apologised for inconvenience that may be caused by disruption to waste collections because of icy conditions.

The council says they are working hard to complete all scheduled collections but it may not be possible to complete some, and catch-up with others that couldn’t be made yesterday.

This particularly applies in hilly or more rural areas and where roads are not gritted.

The council asks that you place your bin out as normal.

It says: “If we are unable to collect your road or area, you do not need to report a missed collection to us.

“Please leave your bin out and our crews will be recording where they have not been able to access to arrange a return collection as the earliest opportunity.

“Currently we anticipate collections missed yesterday, Monday, February 8, and today, Tuesday February 9, will be caught up by the end of Friday, February 12, at the latest.

“Please only contact us to report a missed collection if you placed your bin out by 7am and it was not emptied whilst your neighbour’s bins have been emptied.  This can be done up to 5pm the next working day through our website at or by calling our contact centre on 01323 443322.”
