Part of the existing Uckfield Conservation Area

Conservation areas in Uckfield may be extended

Conservation areas in Uckfield may in future include parts of New Town, if the town council gets its way.

Councillors have told Wealden District Council, the planning authority, it would like to see three additions to the existing area which is largely along Church Street and part of the High Street.

The extensions would be:

  • Extend the boundary along Belmont Road to include the properties Wayside Cottage, The Rectory and Delgany.
  • Create a new conservation area along the east side of New Town from its junction with Framfield Road to the last property before The Highlands roundabout. The council believes this stretch includes many properties similar to those in the existing conservation area.
  • Include homes on the south side of Framfield Road up to Meadow Place.

Wealden Council has carried out a consultation on the boundaries of the conservation area.

Uckfield’s new Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group helped the council formulate its proposals.
