Competition – design new headwear for funeral director

Budding artists and milliners are being asked to create an alternative top hat for new Fuller and Scott funeral director Emma Naylor.

Funeral director Emma Naylor wearing her top hat. The challenge is to design alternative headwear for her.

Top hats have been retained as part of the funeral director’s uniform since the 19th Century, when it was considered an essential part of a gentleman’s formal attire, but Fuller and Scott would like to see how people would bring it up to date.

The winning design will feature on the funeral directors’ Facebook, be proudly modelled by Emma, and then put on display in the funeral home window.

An array of prizes are on offer, from a prize for the school with the most entries, to individual prizes of £20 book vouchers for the following age categories, under 5s, 5-7, 8-10, 10-12, and everyone else.

Entries – with your name, age, school name (if entries made by school), and contact details, on the reverse – should be emailed to, or posted to Fuller and Scott, Civic Approach, Uckfield, TN22 1AJ.

• Contact details for Fuller and Scott can be found 24/7 in our Uckfield Directory. Look for the name or search in the category for Funeral Directors.
